I want to volunteer

People decide they want to volunteer for lots of different reasons and whatever that reason may be, we will do our best to find the perfect role for you. If you would like to see what sort of roles there are available, you can do a live search of all our opportunities by clicking on the VolOpps button on the right.

We will support you to find potential volunteering opportunities and link you up with organisations needing volunteers.  If things go well, we would love you to keep in touch and tell us how things are going. Should things not work out, you are most welcome to get in touch and we can try to find you alternative role[s].

In person

Ring the office on 01384 573381 and you will be offered an appointment to visit the Volunteer Centre and have an informal and confidential one-to-one chat with the Volunteer Centre Development Officer.

By phone

If you prefer, staff from the Volunteer Centre can contact you by phone for an informal chat to see what sort of voluntary opportunities you are interested in. You will then be sent information about relevant opportunities by post or email.

By email

You may prefer to contact the Volunteer Centre by email. You will then receive information on the sort of volunteering opportunities that interest you.

  1. Hi I would like to know if there are any volunteering oppurtunities for my 14 year old daughter who is currently doing the Duke of Edinburgh award. Please send me the details if possible.

    • Good morning. Thanks for your message about some potential volunteering for your daughter. We don’t get roles for under 18’s except very occasionally I’m afraid. However there may be some options as she could join a group such as guides, scouts (they have girls too) or St Johns Ambulance, as these groups always encourage members to support other members and run fundraisers etc to raise essential funds for the group. Guides and Scouts also have various badges to achieve and there is one around volunteering. Other options could include something you could volunteer together.


  2. Hi, I’m a mother to a 4 year old child who has recently started full time school, I have no work experience and no qualifications except that of a GCSE standard, I’m looking for some unpaid voluntary work to help me gain some skills so that I can look for suitable work.
