As an Independent Panel Member your role is to recommend the approval/de-approval/place restrictions on new and existing Shared Lives Carers. You have no legal responsibility but you are there to advise the Registered Manager who will also attend Panel. Reports are sent to you by secure email at least two weeks before the Panel meeting. You then have time to prepare some questions you may wish to ask of the carers and assessor, which are directed by the Panel Chair. There is time set aside at the beginning of Panel for the members to discuss any concerns and there is also de-brief afterwards to share learning and thoughts with the Registered Manager.
We hold the Panel at two venues in Stourbridge, at Eagle House on the ring road, DY8 1HE and also at 4 Norton Rd, DY8 4AE.
We meet on average between 4-6 times annually.
Approx half a day or less on some occasions, dependent on how many reports are presented.
We are looking for Panel members that may have experience of working in the social care/voluntary/local authority sector, or have/had a civic responsibility, and also has a genuine interest in the local community/neighbourhood. We are particularly interested to hear from anyone who is currently accessing or has in the past used support services from within Dudley Borough.
