OPP OF THE DAY: Grandmentor – Volunteering Matters Wolverhampton

  • Commit to Grandmentors for at least one year
  • Meets the young person regularly (usually weekly/fortnightly)
  • Builds up a relationship based on trust and mutual respect
  • Acts as a positive role model, helping boost confidence and self-esteem to encourage ambition and aspiration
  • Helps the young person plan and work towards goals in relation to employment,
    education or training
  • Be someone who can discuss options, hope and aspirations
  • Planning meetings, activities and actions with the mentee
  • Keep a diary sheet and submit after each meeting with the mentee
  • Share any concerns with the Volunteer Manager
  • Ensure that confidentiality and safeguarding guidelines are adhered to (as outlined in the training)Support the mentee to find work, start college or take up training. This could include:

    •    help with writing CVs and job applications
    •    support to find work experience or voluntary work
    •    looking for apprenticeships
    •    searching for college courses
    •    Expanding horizons

    Meet with the young person weekly/fortnightly
