- Commit to Grandmentors for at least one year
- Meets the young person regularly (usually weekly/fortnightly)
- Builds up a relationship based on trust and mutual respect
- Acts as a positive role model, helping boost confidence and self-esteem to encourage ambition and aspiration
- Helps the young person plan and work towards goals in relation to employment,
education or training - Be someone who can discuss options, hope and aspirations
- Planning meetings, activities and actions with the mentee
- Keep a diary sheet and submit after each meeting with the mentee
- Share any concerns with the Volunteer Manager
- Ensure that confidentiality and safeguarding guidelines are adhered to (as outlined in the training)Support the mentee to find work, start college or take up training. This could include:
• help with writing CVs and job applications
• support to find work experience or voluntary work
• looking for apprenticeships
• searching for college courses
• Expanding horizonsMeet with the young person weekly/fortnightly
