OPP OF THE DAY: Information & Advice Volunteer, Age UK

Purpose of Role:
To provide help and assistance to I. & A. and Trading Officers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
– Meet and Greet customers
– Answer the telephone
– Identify customer requirements (what do they want / who do they need to see)
– Manage any queue should the situation arise
– Process Bus Pass Applications
– Hand out Information and Advice Fact Sheets
– Hand out Insurance Leaflets (working within FSA limitations)
– Update Information and Advice Fact Sheets
– Make appointments for Pensions Service
– General administration duties (applying labels, postage stamps, leaflet stamping etc.)
– To adhere to the policies and practices of Age Concern Dudley
– To agree to a Criminal Records Bureau check
– To wear a personal identity badge whilst volunteering
– Insurance Renewals

A basic knowledge of I.T. (e.g. MS Word / Excel is desirable for this role as is the ability to access the Internet for updating fact sheets. However, training will be provided where necessary

Expenses:
Travelling expenses will be reimbursed at the agreed volunteer mileage rate, or bus fare on production of receipts.

– Patience and understanding
– The ability to work as part of a team
– An understanding of the need for confidentiality
– Good timekeeping
– Reliability and trustworthiness
