OPP OF THE DAY: Collection Host, Acorns Children’s Hospice

acornsWe are looking for friendly and organised people who can co-ordinate Acorns collections in their local supermarkets, town centres and other large venues. It’s completely up to you how many you want to manage, as some of our coordinators start out with as little as two a year.

We will help you organise a rota of collectors and ask you to provide a warm greeting for them on the day of the collections; giving them the materials they need and top tips to make the most of their collection slot. You will also be responsible for taking the materials from the collectors at the end of the collection and counting and banking the donations.

Key tasks:

– Organising a rota of collectors to fill in collection slots
– You’ll liaise with collection sites on the day of the collection
– Greeting collectors and giving them a great experience
– Taking all the materials required for the collection and briefing collectors for their collection slot
– Counting and banking the money raised
– Using Acorns ‘Thank you’ cards to let the sites and supporters know how much has been collected

– Good interpersonal skills
– Access to a vehicle
– Ability to organise and basic administrative tasks
– Ability to count and record money
– Basic computer skills
– Have a small amount of storage space for collection boxes/buckets
– Regular communication with Acorns Community Fundraising Team
– Volunteers should be reliable and trustworthy
– Volunteers need to be over the age of 16 years
