dudley safeguardingBoth Dudley Children and Adult Board are responsible for overseeing how agencies work together to keep Dudley’s children, young people and adults safe.

As part of our commitment to engaging with local communities we wish to appoint 2 volunteer Lay Members for a period of three years to each Board.

Lay members should live within Dudley

We are seeking to appoint two to serve the Children Board and two to serve the Adult Board.

Your role will be to bring a more ‘grass roots’ perspective to safeguarding; to think as a member of the public; to play a part in the oversight and scrutiny of decisions and information considered by the Boards.

Your main duty will be to attend the Board meetings and other sub-groups as appropriate and to support the Boards to engage with local communities.

Expenses will be reimbursed to cover travel and subsistence.

You will need to have an understanding of working with children or young people, or adults who are in need of support and care and an ability to communicate effectively within meetings and confidence to ask questions and challenge people in a constructive way.

You will also need to demonstrate a commitment to promoting equality and diversity and improving the safety of others within the Borough.

The successful applicants will require a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and references will also be taken up.
