OPP OF THE DAY: Volunteer Adviser, Citizens Advice Bureau Dudley and District

Purpose of the roleCAB Dudley2
– To help provide an effective and efficient advice service to members of the public
– To help influence government and other organisations by informing them of the effect of their actions on the lives of clients

Minimum commitment: 1 day per week (2 days for 1st 12 weeks)

Main duties and responsibilities will include:
– Interviewing clients, both face-to-face and on the telephone
– Finding, interpreting and communicating relevant information to enable a client to make an informed decision
– Acting, where necessary, on behalf of the client, negotiating, making telephone calls, drafting or writing letters or making appropriate referrals
– Recording information about the interview in an accurate and timely manner
– Keeping up to date by attending mandatory training and by essential reading
– Identifying and raising research & campaigns issues
– Identifying discrimination
– Identifying possible safeguarding issues and highlight to the line manager
– Being aware of Health and Safety, Data Protection and Confidentiality

– A commitment to the aims and principles of Citizens Advice Dudley Borough
– A positive attitude to self-development and assessment
– Ability to work alone or as part of a team
– Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
– Ability to manage own time and workload eff
– Respect for views, values and cultures that are different to their own
– Competence in using IT
– Being open and approachable
– Ability to sift through information and extract what is relevant
– Basic mathematical skills, including percentages
