This year our eighth Volunteering Champion will take over the baton at the Mayor making ceremony in May.  The Mayor of Dudley takes on this important role as part of their duties and the current Mayor, Cllr Steve Waltho has certainly risen to the challenge with passion and commitment. He and Jayne the Mayoress, have helped to raise the profile of volunteers and the difference they make in local communities throughout their term in office. As a committed volunteer himself, Steve could see the true value of those unsung heroes who give their time to support others and has adopted not one, but five Mayor’s charities!

On 27th May our annual Volunteering Champion celebration will take place and the current Mayor and their successor, will tour the borough along with key local stakeholders, meeting volunteers who go the extra mile to support both individuals in need and communities.  We value this opportunity to say a sincere thank you to the existing Volunteering Champion and welcome the new Mayor to the role.  There is a packed programme, with a bus tour, visits and a marketplace, and we look forward to sharing the photos and stories with you after the event. Watch this space.
