NEW TRUSTEES WANTED to join the board of our well-established small charity, and help us develop our plans for the future.
We are linked to HOME-START UK, ONE OF THE COUNTRY’S LEADING FAMILY SUPPORT CHARITIES, specialising in providing volunteers to help families with children under 5. We have recently moved to new premises and are funded by the Lottery, Children In Need and the local authority. Our supported families are located right across the borough of Dudley, from Halesowen and Stourbridge to Kingswinford and Coseley.
Trustees are especially needed with some business experience such as in FINANCE, HR, IT, SOCIAL MEDIA, QUALITY ASSURANCE or STRATEGIC PLANNING, or with EXPERIENCE IN THE PUBLIC/CHARITY SECTOR particularly regarding FAMILY AND EARLY YEARS SUPPORT, LOCAL MINORITY COMMUNITIES or in FUNDING APPLICATIONS. However we would like to hear from ANYONE WHO THINKS THEY CAN BRING RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS TO OUR MEETINGS, with a REAL INTEREST IN HELPING TO SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES.
The trustee’s role is to provide leadership and direction for the scheme and ensure that the scheme’s governance is of the highest possible standard. The board employs the team of 4 part-time staff and develops strategies for funding. The board’s activities are varied and challenging, but also rewarding.
Trustees volunteer because they want to be involved in their community and improve the lives of parents and children. What they get back is the satisfaction of knowing that they have made a real difference. BEING A TRUSTEE CAN ENHANCE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE, BUILD CONFIDENCE OR PROVIDE A FOCUS FOR AN ACTIVE RETIREMENT.
Our meetings are held on a WEDNESDAY, AROUND MIDDAY, ONCE A MONTH. Refreshments are provided and travel expenses can be paid. Trustee’s may also need to be able to commit an additional 6 to 8 hours per month to matters arising from the meetings. Ideally, trustees need to be able to use email.
Please look at the Home-Start UK website, www.home-start.org.uk for more information or look at our Facebook page.
It is a legal requirement that a trustee cannot have unspent criminal convictions involving deception or dishonesty, be an undischarged bankrupt or have a voluntary CVA agreement, or be disqualified as a company director.
