OPP OF THE DAY: Education Assistant – Kinver Edge, The National Trust

What was life in these cave houses really like? What creepy crawlies live on the heath of Kinver nat trustEdge? Education Assistants aren’t afraid to don a mob cap or get muddy to show us, and know how to make learning fun. They’re great at inspiring young people with practical activities and stories about how people at the Rock Houses used to live, and can create exciting outdoor adventures with the National Trust’s flagship campaign ‘50 Things to do before you are 11 3/4.’

By getting involved, you could:
– Help children and young people learn through practical sessions
– Share your knowledge and enthusiasm with younger visitors – inspiring the next generation
– Use your communication skills to deliver to varied groups
– Join an enthusiastic and varied team and make new friends

What’s involved?
– Learning more about Kinver Edge and its stories and wildlife, so that you can bring it to life for younger visitors
– Leading or helping with inspiring activity sessions for small groups of children
– Helping to improve our school programme – we’d love to hear your ideas. The team work together to develop new offers, you might like to participate in the ongoing development of the learning sessions
– Using and looking after resources used for school visits
– You are important in making sure things run as smoothly and safely as possible – this includes getting to know health and safety and evacuation procedures
– There might occasionally be some other activities that are of interest to you, that we could use your help with.

This role will suit you if you are:
– Full of enthusiasm and excited about telling stories
– Someone who enjoys working with children and young people
– Friendly and ready to answer questions – you never know what you’ll be asked!
– Keen to discover more about Kinver Edge and its history and wildlife

Extra Information:
– We’ll help you get to know Kinver Edge, how you can help and how you will work with the rest of the team – with induction and training
– We provide equipment to help you do this role well and safely
– We’ll also cover agreed costs of your travel between home and the Edge
